Motherhood has been a blessing

The day I became a mother, all I thought was important disappeared. I looked at this beautiful little one and thought I could not believe she was mine. From that day forward, motherhood became a top priority. It still is to this day.

The World of Reading

Invited Author

Kings School in Dubai has an exceptional Librarian Ms. Nosheen who works hard to put together programs for her teachers and students. I was honored to be one of the guest authors to celebrate the world of reading.

Taking Time to Improve One’s Craft

I enjoyed creative writing classes in high school, but I did not excel in the punctuation department. I remember my papers returned with red ink due to punctuation but consistently receiving positive comments about my ideas and storyline. In retrospect, I think the teacher was letting me know I could take my thoughts and continue building on them, but I let the red ink get in the way of my thinking. However, taking these writing classes has opened my eyes to understand the craft in a new light.

The Inkers Con Mini-Conference

I am never disappointed in an Inkers Con Conference. The quality of speakers is outstanding, and I continue to pick up beautiful nuggets to build on my writing craft.

Always Room to Learn

I have been concentrating on learning about history, especially in Chicago 1925-28. I wished I had paid more attention to history in high school. For example, I mentioned my Grandmother, Ruby, whom I was close to in my newsletter. I even lived with her when I had a job close to her house. She wanted me to be able to save money.

When I was in my 20s, I lived with her because my job was close to her home. She helped me save money, giving us time to bond even more. Yet, in all that time, it never dawned on me to talk about her early life before marriage. Grandma was part of the roaring ’20s. No wonder she taught me the Charleston Dance. Be sure to ask your loved ones about their fun times. Family history is the best!

Travel

I visited my daughter Kathrine, the illustrator for the Moonling Adventures. She and her husband live in Georgia and teaches at SCAD University. She showed me some of her favorite places to walk and let her mind open to the world of imagination.

I met up with my husband in the DC area to visit more family. One of our outings was the New Planet Word Museum. If you go to DC, I recommend it. It is interesting to see how words developed over the centuries and their history.

New Books

I always am supercharged when a new book starts to come to life. I am blessed to have incredible illustrators working on my books. Be watching youtube to meet the illustrators Judy Gaudet from Maine and Nancy Hoover from Texas.

I will be revealing the titles soon, so stay tuned! I have also come up with two more book ideas. When that happens, I think about them and develop the thought more. Let’s see where the ideas take me!

February Updates 2022

February Updates 2022

I enjoy this reading from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 in the Bible:

Love is patience.
Love is kind.
It does not envy.
It does not boast.
It is not proud.
It does not dishonor others.
It is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered.
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

May your heart be filled with kindness this Valentine’s Day.

What Have I Been Up To…

I mentioned in my February newsletter that I took a few classes in Mini-Con put on my Inkers Con, whose founder Alessandra Toree. I took Ms. Toree’s first conference for authors in 2021 and learned a great deal that I try to take as many of her classes as I have time for. I am happy to share this with you if you are looking for a conference for your work.

Rise A Girl’s Struggle for More!

I am enjoying the research for the follow-up book to ‘Rise A Girl’s Struggle for More!’. The hardest thing about the research is the ‘Rabbit Hole!’ I look for a particular fact on a topic, and before I know it, I am clicking on lots of links because the topics are so interesting. I have had to learn for time’s sake to stay on task. Be watching for updates as the story progresses.

January 2023!

January 2023!

Happy New Year!

I wanted to reflect on this year and thank you for your support.

As my mom always said, “life is made of chapters,” Now I have to laugh because I am writing books with chapters.

As many of you know, it took a while to be a published author, but I soon discovered the most challenging part was to come– what I refer to as “The Beast,” marketing. So first, thank you for all your support in reading my newsletters, purchasing my books, and even writing me back. Your support is an inspiration to me.

Reflecting on this year – What a year it has been!

Books published – A Time to Fly, Charlie and the Tire Swing, and A Song of Peace!

Award from the Story Monster Magazine:   A Song of Peace is “Story Monster”-  approved book!

I also had the pleasure of being cohost with Dr. Jacalyn, founder, and owner of USA Global TV and Radio ™®. The shows Fashion Travel and Fitness, The Corner Bookstore, and the UK News and Culture. The people we have interviewed from around the world are fascinating, and I have m to know many of them.

I have enjoyed joining the Women in Publishing Group and Aimee Ravichandran, owner of abundantlysocial.com /Author Talk.

This year brought me my publicist Mickey Mikelson owner of Creative Edge. Mickey has helped me with “The Beast!”. I am grateful for all he has done to get my name out there.

I am grateful to my illustrators, Nancy Hoover and Judy Gaudet, who have brought my books to life with artistic talents.

I am also grateful to Aimee Warren, owner, and founder of Creative Pockets, who runs my website.

As we begin 2023, I look forward to all the new chapters life will bring. I also want to encourage you to go after your dreams. It might take a while, but goals are worth turning into a reality.

On a personal note, I am grateful for my family’s love and support.
May this year bless your family, and may your dreams come true!

Warm Regards,

Diann Floyd Boehm

January Updates 2022

January Updates 2022

Special January!

Why is January an important month for the Floyd Family. Well, my parents had three sons born over time, so I have three younger brothers, all born in January.

Mike is the closest in age, and he became my playmate. We have some fun memories and are still making more. My baby brothers were my live dolls. I carried them everywhere. Now they are taller than me.

January has also become significant because my mom was called HOME— January 21st, to be exact. I know I should be happy, but I can not help but miss someone I loved with all my heart.

Mom always had wind chimes in our childhood home and on her porch in her home in Kingwood. I have them now. They are right outside the bedroom patio. When they blow, I think mom is telling me she is nearby.

Join A Song of Peace Movement

I am excited to bring the story of Tommy’s wish alive and have people from around the world say the word PEACE over and over for 50 Seconds and post on Instagram and other social media.

If we all wish for Peace, maybe just maybe for a moment, we can have Peace for everyone. Watch the video to learn how!

Getting organised!

January is a time to start fresh and figure out ways to become more organized. With the help of author, podcaster, listening expert D. Scott Smith, I ordered his 2022 Calendar and loved it so much I wanted to share the info with you. I like many features about it, but my favorite is the goal tracking for each day. At the end of the month, you can record your achievements. If you are interested in learning more, reach out to D. Scott Smith through his podcast and store.

Story Garden

The Story Garden is back and will go full force in January. If you are an author or suggest an author to read a book, let me know. All children authors are welcome to read their children’s stories of peace, hope, and kindness.

Children’s Diabetes is a disease I hope we can find a cure for one day. My hat is off to Christine O’ Conner, who is helping to make a difference.

Winter Updates 2021

Winter Updates 2021

Thank you!

It has been a long journey to become a published author. Once you are published, you need readers. Thank you for all your support and for reading my books. I enjoy hearing from all of you. I can not say it enough thank you.

King’s First Christmas

King’s First Christmas is a story for adults, and it is based on an event that took place with two of my brothers. A big shout out to Chris and Danny, who shared this adventure with me. You can find it on Texas Sister Press and Amazon.

Song of Peace

I am very proud of this book. My Son was an inspiration for it. When he was a little boy, he told Santa all he wanted for Christmas was Peace on Earth. I am so glad the visits with Santa were recorded. Santa’s face was one of surprise for a wish coming from a small boy.  I hope you enjoy it and watch for January and find out how you can help spread the word of peace. Here is a hint with my commercial.

Rise a Girl’s Struggle for More…

continues to do well on Amazon.

Thank you all for reading it, and if you have not yet and are looking for a young adult historical fiction book, please consider reading it. It took me six years to research and write. However, I am very proud to share the message my grandma gave me – ‘Go after your dreams and never give up.’

Cohost with Dr. Jacalyn

It is an honor to be a cohost with Dr. Jacalyn with Fashion Fitness Travel and Leisure and now.

The Corner Bookstore.

Dr. Jacalyn has opened a new world for me, and I love working with her. Being a cohost and meeting people worldwide – What can I say? It is fabulous. I love people — I love hearing what makes them tick, and most of all, I enjoy sharing it with you. Dr. Jacalyn will have a new lineup of shows in the New Year, so stay tuned.

She was my coach for tackling a historical novel as well as my publisher. I hope the interview inspires others who have been thinking of writing a book but are afraid to open the door will be encouraged and open the door and begin writing.

Getting on the hot list…

I woke up one morning to a message from my publisher. When I read it, I had to read it again and again. It was like a movie to me hello you just won the oscar, but in my case, it was Rise A Girl’s Struggle for More just made Amazon’s hot list! OH Wow! Later I found out through an author’s group I belong to that I would be interviewed by Scott D Smith, an Amazon Influencer. Wow!

Talk about exciting! Click on the picture to watch the replay. I wish my Grandma and mom could see it now. Do you think they can watch from heaven?

The Book Tour is going on now. The virtual book tour for Diann Floyd Boehm’s new YA/historical fiction, Rise! A Girl’s Struggle for More, is well underway! Today’s stop is a 5-Star review on Bring on the Lemons!! If you’re a book reviewer and would like to join in the tour, feel free to message me.

I am not in Texas anymore!

I was traveling down the highway to Houston. I usually see cows, but suddenly, my mind started playing tricks on me because I saw zebras. I was so shocked that I wondered if I was in Texas or beamed back to Kenya. Then, of course, I had to turn around. Sure enough, my mind was not playing tricks because all these zebras were right in front of me! I had to take pictures, of course, and then I just enjoyed the moment. I could not imagine why there were zebras.

A puzzle to still solve!

I hope you enjoy the pictures. Tell me, has anything like this ever happened to you. If so, I would love to hear your story.

Fall Time

I had just entered the town of Oilton when I spotted a mother and son put together the pumpkin patch. I stopped in to purchase a pumpkin and get the update of fun facts about Oilton. This mother-son duo was filled with enthusiasm as they prepared for the town to enjoy the pumpkin patch and help with scholarship money for the students in the Oilton school district. They gave me a tour around the patch, and the young man shared his favorite displays. These two certainly put me in the holiday spirit.

Listen!

When I signed up for this seminar, I did it to support a friend. Little did I know that I could learn to be a better listener. I found myself in meetings or with friends and would notice I was making a point to be a better listener. So what did I do? I went back and signed up for two more classes. I am a firm believer in always learning, if you’re interested in becoming a better listener.

Grandma Ruby Pearl Facts

October 20 is an important family date because, in 1904, my Grandma Ruby Pearl Terrill was born. So fast forward in time, 2021, I am launching my book Rise a Girl’s Struggle for More, a historical fiction based on a snippet of my Grandmother’s early life. I am sure you have seen many posts about the book. It has been a six-year journey, and I pray it inspires many people worldwide to go for their dreams and be the person they hope to be. So check out my website and see how you can go on the book tour.

I hope the rest of October is filled with fun times!

Enjoy the Fall colors for those moving to the winter months and for my followers on the other side of the planet enjoy moving into Spring and Summer.

Story Garden

My YouTube channel, the Story Garden, is open for business! We have moved back to Austin, our family home, to be exact. One of the children’s rooms has now turned into the Story Garden. I am very excited about our new look, new authors, and fun books for parents and children.

A safe place for young ones to hear fun stories read to them. A place where some authors pop in for an interview and share their book with the children.

The Story Garden

If you are a children’s author and want to be on my show, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
