March on into Spring

March on into Spring

From Winter Winds to Spring Wonders

I don’t know how the weather has been where you are, but the old saying ‘March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb‘ has certainly proven true here in Austin, Texas!

The month began with summer-like warmth, then, on just the fourth day, we dropped from 90 degrees to a brisk 38. I had nearly packed away my winter gloves when the chill returned with some very brisk wind! Now, as we inch toward April, summer’s warmth is settling back in. I don’t mind, I’ve never been one for the cold! Wherever you are, I hope you’re enjoying the perfect spring day.

From a Reader

A wonderful parent recently shared this sweet photo of her little one reading Boomer the Curious Bunny. Hearing how much children love spending Storytime with Boomer never fails to warm my heart. Thank you to all who continue to share your pictures and kind words, it means the world to me.

What I’m Up To…

I’m deep into writing mode! This year, I’m challenging myself to write one article a month with hopes of having them published in magazines. These pieces are inspired by true, uplifting stories, including a few based on my remarkable Great Grandma. She made such an impact in her community and even saved my mom and grandma’s lives. Once the first piece is published, I’ll be sure to share the link with you.

Family stories are such treasures, they not only teach us about our ancestors but also help us understand the traits and values that continue to live on through us.

Book News

Stay tuned: new book titles are coming soon!
We’re currently formatting one right now, and I can’t wait to reveal more details in the next newsletter.

In the World

As always, my heart continues to hold hope and prayers for world peace. May we all see a gentler, kinder world in the days ahead.

Connecting and Giving Back

I’m thrilled to share that I recently joined two wonderful organizations: the Women’s Worldwide Association and Women in Communication, Austin Chapter. My goal is to connect with more inspiring women locally and globally, learning how we can give back through meaningful community and international projects. I’ll keep you posted on what’s next!

The Month of Love!

The Month of Love!

Hello February!

Finding the Warmth in February

Welcome, friends! I’m so glad you’re here. Each month I share a peek into my writing life, favorite routines, and the little moments that bring me joy. If you’d like these stories and updates delivered straight to your inbox, be sure to sign up for my newsletter on my website and follow along on Instagram @diann_floyd_boehm for more behind-the-scenes fun – the Month of Love!

Boomer and I are ready for a new month of stories, sunshine, and blooming ideas – thanks for hopping along on this journey with us…

1. Writing

This month, I’m continuing to edit several of my Boomer stories. I can’t wait for the day when you’ll be able to read all of Boomer’s adventures. I often think of my English teacher, Ms. Lapidus. She used to tell me I had a creative mind, but that I needed to slow down my thinking so I wouldn’t write so many run-on sentences. Back then, it made me sad to see my papers come back covered in red ink and comments. Now, I’m grateful she had us revise our first drafts. Her persistence helped make me a better writer.

2. Exercise

I do my best to attend Pilates five days a week. I try to go in the morning after writing so I can start my day feeling accomplished. If I wait until the afternoon, it’s far too easy to talk myself out of going, but I’ve learned I always feel better when I do. My favorite workouts are the cardio sculpt classes. We use a jump board for various exercises, and it sometimes reminds me of being a little girl, jump roping at recess. If you’ve never tried Pilates, I encourage you to give it a go. You might be surprised by how much you enjoy it.

3. Gardening

Sometimes, when I look at my many flower beds, I think, “What was I thinking, adding so many gardens?” Then I remember: I started them in my 30s, when I wasn’t thinking much about how my back would feel years later.
After winter, I look at the gardens and tell myself, several times, that I really must get them back into shape. Once I finally dig in and get them cleaned up for spring, I’m always glad I did. It may take me longer now, but it’s so worth it. As you can see from the picture, the gladioluses are already peeking out of the ground. It’s so exciting to see those first signs of life. I’ll share a photo on Instagram when they’re in full bloom, so be sure to check it out.

The Creativity Show

I always enjoy being part of a panel with other authors on Red’s show. There’s something special about talking with fellow creatives and sharing our journeys. Click on the link and discover all the fun topics we chatted about. Red even wrote a poem about each one of us. I was so touched I cried. I am sure once you see Red’s fun personality you will always want to tune into her shows. She truly puts a smile on your face.

Book a Notions Interview

I truly enjoy doing interviews, and this one was especially meaningful. The hosts wanted to hear about all my books, and I appreciated their interest so much. Each story is special to me, a little piece of my imagination that I get to share with others.

Kicking off 2026!

Kicking off 2026!

I started my year with the new…

Books, Podcasts and Gratitude!

I started my year with something I love deeply; books, podcasts, and gratitude. It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the end of January 2026. I hope the new year has begun with a bit of magic for you, too.

Years ago, I stopped making New Year’s resolutions. I found that I was always setting myself up for disappointment when life inevitably got in the way. Instead, I shifted my focus to something gentler and far more meaningful: being the best version of myself each day.

For me, that often shows up through small, everyday acts of kindness. Walking someone to their car after dark. Helping carry groceries. Taking a moment to truly listen. These gestures may seem simple, but to someone else, they can be a tremendous gift.

As a storyteller, I’ve always believed that kindness is one of the most powerful stories we can live out loud. It doesn’t need a grand stage or a perfect plan, just a willing heart. This year, I’m continuing to surround myself with stories that uplift, conversations that inspire, and moments that remind me why imagination and compassion matter so much.

Thank you for being part of my journey. I’m excited to share more stories, reflections, and creative adventures with you as the year unfolds.

From My Writing Desk

I’m currently editing a brand-new story in its very first phase – the stage filled with imagination, discovery and lots of revision notes in the margins. This is where characters start to find their voices and the story begins to take shape.

While there’s still a long way to go, these early moments are some of my favourites. They remind me why I love writing and how every story begins with a spark and a little faith in where it might lead.

Character Magic in Inkubator Magazine

I’m delighted to share that my article, “Tips on Finding the Perfect Character for a Story,” appears in the January 2026 edition of Inkubator Magazine. Writing this piece allowed me to reflect on how characters are born and how they grow into voices that feel real, relatable, and full of heart.

The article is filled with practical, heart-centred ideas to help writers discover characters who truly leap off the page and stay with readers long after the story ends. If you’d like to read it, you’ll find it on pages 43 and 44 of the magazine.

Finding the Magic Podcast: Let’s Talk Boomer and Rise

I recently had the pleasure of joining Tricia Copeland on the Finding the Magic podcast for a thoughtful and engaging conversation about storytelling, imagination, and the heart behind my books. We talked about the re-release of Boomer Sees the Town – Boomer the Curious Bunny and my young adult novel Rise: A Girl’s Struggle for More, two stories very close to my heart.

During our conversation, we explored themes of curiosity, courage, and growth, and how real-life moments often spark the stories we tell. Podcasts like this remind me how powerful it can be to share not just the finished book, but the journey behind it – the questions, the challenges, and the magic that brings characters to life.

Boomer’s Shout-Out in The AR Critique

I was delighted to see Boomer Sees the Town highlighted in The AR Critique as part of their lovely “Check It Out!” feature. It’s always special to watch a story find its way into new hands, and this thoughtful mention captured the heart of Boomer’s big city adventure.

The feature shines a light on Boomer’s curiosity, sense of wonder, and gentle humour – qualities that make this little bunny such a joyful companion for young readers and the grown-ups reading along with them. Seeing Boomer embraced in this way reminds me why I love creating stories that invite families to explore, imagine, and discover together.

Website Glow-Up: Thank You, CreativePocket

A heartfelt thank-you goes to Aimee Warren, aka CreativePocket, for giving my author website such a beautiful refresh. Aimee originally created my site while I was living in Dubai, and it has been a joy to collaborate with her again as she worked her creative magic to make it brighter, clearer and easier to explore.

The updated site feels far more reflective of the stories I share and the journey behind them. I’m so grateful for Aimee’s thoughtful approach, creative eye and genuine care for authors and storytellers. I encourage you to take a moment to explore the wonderful work she does through CreativePocket and support a talented creative who truly champions meaningful stories and the people who tell them.

Around the World, One Language: Love

Around the World, One Language: Love

I’ve been blessed to live overseas and travel to many countries, meeting people from all walks of life. Whether Christian, Jewish, Hindu, or followers of other faiths, I’ve noticed that this season often holds a special place in so many cultures and traditions. Each celebrates in its own beautiful way, with a heartfelt reverence for God or the Divine.

What has touched me most is how much we share in common—a longing to love, to spread joy, and to give generously to others. Across America and around the globe, people seem to smile a little more, give a little more, and open their hearts more fully to those in need during this season.

In my own Christian faith, I hold close two verses that guide and comfort me. I hope that, whatever your beliefs, they bring a spark of warmth and light to your celebrations as well:

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” – John 15:12

No matter how you celebrate, may joy, kindness, and love fill your days.

Blessings to you all!

Book Review

I am always excited to read a wonderful review of my stories. ‘Boomer the Curious Bunny – Sees the Town’ is winning the hearts of many readers

Press Release

Boomer The Curious Bunny – Sees The Town Book 1 review: “A must-have addition to any family’s bedtime bookshelf.” – Anthony Avina

A time to give Thanks!

A time to give Thanks!

Like many families across the United States, Thanksgiving is a big event for us. When I was a little girl, my dad and mom would load up our station wagon with six kids and head to Oklahoma to visit my Grandma Floyd and my dad’s side of the family. My dad had nine brothers and sisters, so you can imagine the joy of gathering with all the cousins, watching the dads play basketball, and, of course, enjoying an abundance of homemade food prepared by all the women who loved to cook. The next day, we would pile back in the car and visit my great-grandma Terrill on my mom’s side, where even more cousins would join in the fun.

Mom and Dad set the standard for what a Floyd Thanksgiving should be. Today, our families still gather, spouses and new faces included, to keep the tradition alive. We’ve lost loved ones along the way, but my brother Larry always leads us in a blessing, and we remember those who are no longer with us in our prayers.

I am grateful to come from a large family that celebrates not only our heritage and the harvest but also the gift of life and the importance of giving back to the world.

I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with love and laughter. Thank you for your support, your kindness is a true blessing in my life.

Book Release

It’s finally here! Boomer Sees the Town has been rereleased, and the story has a whole new look thanks to my publisher, Plum Creek Press. Boomer himself shines in this fresh edition, brought to life with vibrant colors that truly capture his spirit. I’m thrilled to see Boomer heading off on new adventures. The bold artwork is already catching the eyes of young readers, and I’m delighted to hear that children are loving the new edition. Be sure to check it out, it’s available now in Kindle and paperback, with a hardcover coming soon!

TEA Miss Liz

It’s always a pleasure to join Miss Liz on her show. I truly believe you’ll enjoy watching the replay! Since it’s live, the discussion can go in so many unexpected directions, which makes every appearance memorable. This time, we had a lot of fun talking about my historical fiction, especially book two in the Ruby Takes Chicago, published by OC Publishing.

Royally Confidential Show

Helena Chard and I had fun with our last show “A Right Royal Dressing Up. Helena shared insights as well as highlights of the United States President being a host to King Charles and Queen Camila. It is something to see the ball room. Highlights of Princess Kate and First Lady Melania Trump having a fun time working with the children on an art project. Check out some of the beautiful clothing from Dress Code from various queens and that Princess Diana. The history behind the clothing is fascinating. We also had the guest Clare Copleton.

Hollis Chapman Show

The Hollis Chapman Show is a podcast where we recently dove into a discussion about Ruby Takes Chicago. What made my interview with Hollis so special was his deep knowledge of the story, he’d actually read it, which meant his questions were thoughtful and insightful. Since it was a live show, every answer was genuine and led naturally to the next topic. In fact, Hollis even encouraged me to sing Amazing Grace! I hope you’ll check out the replay and enjoy it as much as I did.

Peni Jo Renner Blog

It was a pleasure to be interviewed for Penni’s Blog, where we focused on my newly released book, Boomer Sees the Town, Book 1. Sharing the inspiration behind Boomer’s adventures with Penni and her readers made for a truly enjoyable experience.

Baking

With our home renovation still underway and no kitchen since April, I’ve been lucky to spend time baking in my daughter’s kitchen here in Virginia. It’s been a treat to test out new recipes in preparation for the Christmas holidays.

I started off with Strawberry Banana Bread from All recipes, it turned out delicious! For a playful touch, I made mummy hot dogs, which were a huge hit with my grandson.

The real showstoppers were the cupcakes topped with Landor chocolate balls. I’m still working on a name for them, but I’ve been experimenting with snowy icing and leafy candy decorations. One thing is certain, they’re more than just yummy!

Stay tuned for next month’s baking adventures, I can’t wait to share more new recipes and festive treats with you.

Family

It’s been a year since I lost my brother Mike. While everyone experiences the loss of loved ones, it never gets easier to say goodbye. Just five days before he passed, Mike had been at my house, everything seemed normal until that call came, and it was such a shock.

Mike married a wonderful woman who brought joy into his life, and together they raised three children. He truly loved life, and I believe he’s watching over us from above. I want to pay tribute to my little brother, because I miss him deeply.

To all of you who are missing someone special, I send caring hugs and hope you find comfort knowing your loved ones are in heaven, watching over you.

Family Birthday Bliss

One of my favorite yearly traditions is baking my grandson’s birthday cake. This year’s theme? Pirates! The cake featured a giant frothy wave that I’m particularly proud of. If you’d like to know my decorating trick, send me an email, I’m happy to share!

Virginia Adventures

We’re enjoying some beautiful family time in Virginia. You know you’ve raised your children well when your daughter hosts a dinner party and sets the table with China. She cooked everything from scratch, and her dinner theme; “Everything Pumpkin”, was deliciously creative. The pumpkin bread and pumpkin ice cream stole the show. Email me if you’d like the recipes; they’re autumn perfection.

A Boo-tiful Workout

Halloween at Club Pilates Falls Church is always a treat! This year, my grandson requested that I dress as a princess—and of course, I said yes. Crown, sparkle, and all! Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and slightly spooky Halloween.
