I had the pleasure to reading to the 4-year-old at Michael’s Episcopal  Day School in Austin, Texas. I always enjoy being in a classroom. I enjoyed reading Harry the Camel to them and sharing where Harry the Camel lives. What it is like to be a camel and then read the story. We created a make believe sandstorm as we read the story. It was great fun, and the children learned it is not nice to teach and to love yourself just the way you are.

What I Am Up To…

• My new illustrator for the Boomer Series is busy working on the new release of Boomer the Curious Bunny that should be out in early summer.
• I am now editing the second Boomer book.
• I am super excited for you to see Boomer’s new look and read his adventures.

Spring Is Here!

I love all the seasons, as each one holds a special beauty of its own. For Me Spring is an exciting time because you watch the nature come alive with all the magical colors, from the flowers blooming, bird’s eggs hatching, to the bees enjoying the fresh nectar of the flowers.

Here is a picture I took of the wildflowers by our home.  The picture does not even do justice to the brilliant colors each flowers posses.

I enjoyed my interview with Maria Raydun! Maria had me reflect on the ins and outs of what inspired me to write the sequel to Rise a Girls’s Struggle for more published by OC Publishing. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed the interview.

Writing!

It seems the past two months have disappeared in a flash. I have been busy working on two more children’s books. I am in the editing process. You might think that is just making sure the punctuation and spelling are correct, but there is so much more. I am checking the grade level for the reader, the flow of the story, and even testing the story out with some young readers to get their insights. I enjoy each stage of writing. Though I must admit when the publisher puts their seal of approval, I am overjoyed.

Imagination

February has been a month of writing, from Boomer to short stories and much more. I am often asked how I come up with my stories. Well, the inspiration hits me at different times, and when it does, I am buried in a new world of writing and barely come up for air until I have finished the story. Once I have finished the story’s first draft, it is edit time. That is a whole new topic, for sure! I bet you have lots of stories, too! Please consider writing them down for family or even having them published. Embrace your Imagination for others to enjoy!

KINDNESS

Last month, I shared with you how we all have a light of goodness inside us. Kindness is my word for this year. I would love to hear how you are spreading kindness. Here is a sample of kindness I did just today. A lady came into the Pilates class waiting room. She was dressed so cute and had on bright red lipstick. I told her how pretty she looked, and I loved her shade of lipstick; it meant so much to her that she sat down and talked to me, and we discovered people we knew. She thanked me for making her day. You never know how such a simple act could mean so much to another. I hope this inspires you to spread a little sunshine.

Happy New Year!

I hope your New Year starts with lots of fun surprises that bring giant smiles to you.
I can not believe January is almost over, so looking back at the past three weeks of January, I can see it has been filled with many blessings. First of all, we had fabulous holidays with our children and their families, but I am happy to be home. It is funny that when I was younger, I just wanted to travel, travel, travel, but now I am so excited to be home. I hope you can relate.
I look forward to this year, and I hope your year is filled with many blessings.

I am now deep into enjoying my imagination this winter. I am working on several stories, and it is always so much fun to see where my imagination goes with the stories. It is always easier for me to write in the winter because it is too cold to go out. THANK GOODNESS FOR HOT CHOCOLATE!

Happy Holidays to everyone. In my family, we celebrate Christmas. We celebrate the four weeks of Advent, Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. We light a candle each week until the celebration of Jesus’s birth. We also celebrate the fun things that come with the holidays, the gift-giving on Christmas Day, and a festive formal meal.
