The saying “March comes in like a Lion,” and for sure it did in Texas. For the first time in many years, we had light snow. I remember a freeze in the ’90s, but I had not seen snow since I was in 4th grade. Now up in the northern part of Texas, they had inches and inches of snow enough for my nieces and nephews to build a snowman. See Shine the fun pictures that were sent in.

It was a delight to teach a session for the South Cast Senior College. The women learned about the importance of reading to their family members no matter what age. I also gave them tips for changing the voices to make the characters come alive. We discussed various streaming companies and YouTube. I gave suggestions on what to do if a family member is not in the mood for a book, then have fun see about creating a story together. I look forward to hearing about their successes with their new family adventures.

Radio program

As I said in the newsletter, the radio disc jockey said “Go“ and off I went telling one story after another about my brothers and all the different things we did. I would look up at my mom as I spoke, and she mouth to keep talking. So I did. Finally, he said stop and asked me if I had fun talking, and of course, I said yes. Then we waited as listeners called in to say who they thought was the most interesting talker. The next thing I knew, I was back on the show because I won! I received an album of great events in America. I remember this well because the man told me to keep telling stories, and of course, I did. It was a powerful moment. These few minutes in my life were powerful because there was a radioman telling me I won, and he opened my mind to believe in myself, and I had good stories to tell. He gave me the tools to believe in myself and imagine what I can do and be. So embrace imagination and believe you can be whatever you want to be.

May March bring you Joy!

February Updates 2021

February Updates 2021

February is a cold wintry month

But I think magic is happening underground, just waiting for the right time for its charm to appear in Spring!

Moonling Adeventures – Serengetti

They were illustrated by Katherine Boehm, where she received excellent reviews for her illustrations of the Serengeti animals. I decided to make the Serengetti the first adventure because children love animals, and I had been to the Serengeti. I have some incredible photographs of the experience. I never dreamed I would see hundreds of Zebras running in their habitat or a lion resting after a feed.

The sounds of elephants as they walked along side by side.

The stars at night and, of course, the moon over the Serengeti. It only seemed fitting to begin the Moonling Adventures in this magical place. Katherine captured the beauty of the animals
in aways that captures the heart of young minds and makes them want to learn more.

New releases

The Story Garden  is about to have new releases for all different ages. I am so looking forward to sharing the magic of reading with you. My mom never went anywhere without a book ever since I can remember. She learned it from her mom, my grandma. I hope you enjoy the Story Garden and are never without a book!

Valentine’s

Valentine’s Day is not just for couples. It is a day set aside to share your love with others. Write a sticky note and let someone know you care. You do not even have to sign your name. Send yourself some chocolates or flowers as you deserve them. Remember, you have to love yourself before others can love you. So Let me be first!

I love you. I appreciate you. I give thanks to you for supporting me.

Autumn Travels

My husband and I have been traveling from Texas to parts of the east coast. We have seen so many beautiful places and learned so much. I wish I could share everything with you. I feel blessed to be able to see all this beauty. I dreamed of traveling as a young girl, and how lucky I am, it is happening. Image: highlights from our drive up!

Thankful!

November 26 this year is Thanksgiving in America. It is time for families to gather, enjoy a meal with family favorites. Usually, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, nieces, and nephews all join in with the immediate family. In our family, we remind ourselves of loved ones and share great new recipes to pass on to the little ones of today. This year many families will have to cancel or scale down their celebrations, but hopefully that sacrifice will help keep everyone safe so that next year there will be a full house! I hope you celebrate a day to give thanks in your country; it is a fun family time filled with many blessings. Make sure to check out Shine and see pictures sent in of things people are thankful for.
