Bluebonnets, New Beginnings and Books

Apr 29, 2026News

Rejoice… spring is here!

I love how this season reminds us that beautiful life always follows winter. In my book Charlie and the Tire Swing, Charlie learns how long it takes for things to grow from a seed. He discovers that even when we can’t see it, something beautiful is happening underground. Then spring arrives, and suddenly there are flowers, fresh leaves, and vibrant color everywhere.

Here in Texas, you can truly see that beauty in the hundreds of bluebonnets blooming across the landscape. John and I used to take our kids for annual Easter bluebonnet photos, and now we continue the tradition with our dog, Remi. If you’ve never visited a bluebonnet field in full bloom, I highly recommend it—photos simply don’t do it justice.

Austin Women in Communication

Community & Connection

I recently attended my first Austin Women in Communication coffee meeting. It was a small, informal gathering, and I had the chance to meet some wonderful and inspiring women. I went with no expectations—simply hoping to connect—and left feeling encouraged by the conversations and the opportunity to build relationships across generations.

Spring always reminds me that growth takes time, patience, and faith. Whether in writing, relationships, or life, something meaningful is always unfolding—even when we can’t yet see it.

Birthday

April is my birthday month! My husband and I celebrated quietly with a dinner. There is a Chinese Restaurant where I live, and it is one of my favorite restaurants.

I give thanks that I have been blessed to celebrate another year. I hope I can inspire and help others as the months pass by.

Baby Diann!
