Dear Reader,

Wow, can you believe it is already February! I found it absolutely amazing that time can fly by so quickly!
So what have I been up to?
Where do I begin!
The holidays were fabulous because my husband and I were with our grown children. I stayed longer in Virginia to help with various things and therefore experienced the snowfall.
I was very excited to see snow and take in all its beauty. Plus, the snow kept me indoors, which kept me writing. 
I excitedly returned home to Texas, expecting warm weather after the snow, but snow fell in Austin. Granted, not as deep, but still for Austin, it was enough to close the schools. I am sure my father-in-law would laugh if he were here, since he literally walked to school in the snow as he was from Minnesota.
I wrote several articles that will come out later in this year and worked on editing several of my children’s books I have in the works. As you know, I have been doing several shows over the years with USA Global TV and Radio™ and we have retired the show, UK News and Culture. But new things are just around the corner.
Helena Chard, a British royal photographer and I are designing a new show that will air on USA Global TV and Radio™ soon.

I recently was on the Hollis Chapman Show, so be sure to catch it. He asked me insightful questions which I deeply appreciated. I always enjoy when a host wants to know about me and not just about my books. It gives the listeners an opportunity to know who I am, why I write, and much more. I am now a follower of his show as he seems to have guests from all walks of life as well as him sharing words of wisdom. For example, teach your kids about money and saving for a rainy day. Rise! A Girl’s Struggle for More is an old-fashioned, historical family drama-a sweet, yet edgy, coming of age story. Set in the 1920s, it is based on the life of the author’s grandmother. The main character, Ruby Pearl, is mature beyond her years and was born at least a decade too soon. Growing up in the middle of a family of nine children in Oilton, Oklahoma, with her nose constantly in a book, she was known as the girl that would rather read than can tomatoes. Ruby feels destined for greater things. Ruby studies hard to make good grades, while her parents smile and humor her. They continually encourage the courtship with her beau, Arthur, who they fully expect will be their son-in-law when the two graduate from high school, but Ruby has loftier goals. She admires her momma and big sister, Rilla, the “CEOs of the household” and knows some day she will have children and a home of her own to manage, but first things first!

Rise! A Girl’s Struggle for More is Anne of Green Gables meets the “It Girl” of the 20s … but with a sophisticated twist. Ruby’s ‘coming of age’ story evolves amidst the backdrop of a horse and buggy town welcoming its first motor cars, and parents brought up in the Victorian era grappling with their daughters showing their ankles and dating! Following the inspiration of the suffrage movement, Ruby becomes a pioneer for girls her age, breaking all norms, defying tradition (and her parents) to become a truly independent woman.
